The Story Behind Maison Jaspers

Maison Jaspers began long before it had a name.

Looking back, the attraction was always there. As a child, I was naturally drawn to places where old things could be found. Attics, flea markets, books, fields, forgotten corners. I did not fully understand it at the time, but there was always a pull toward objects that felt different from ordinary things.

It was not about knowing their value. It was about the feeling of discovery. Finding something that had been hidden away, left behind, or overlooked. Something with age, weight, material, and a presence that new objects rarely have.

That feeling slowly grew with me.

Almost a decade ago, what would later become Maison Jaspers started in my student room of only nine square meters. There was barely enough space to live, let alone collect, study, photograph, restore, pack, and ship objects. It was small, crowded, and completely impractical, but the attraction was stronger than the difficulty.

At first, it was simply something I could not let go of. Piece by piece, I kept searching, learning, buying, restoring, photographing, and selling. The more I worked with these objects, the more I understood what had been guiding me all along.

Antique, vintage, and design objects are not simple products. Every piece has its own material, condition, story, character, and technical challenges. Some pieces need research. Some need restoration. Some need patience before the right person sees their value. Nothing is standard. Nothing is mass produced. And that is exactly what makes this world so meaningful to me.

There is a certain moment when an object catches your attention. It can be the shape, the patina, the material, the proportions, or simply the atmosphere it carries. You may not always be able to explain it immediately, but you feel that it has something worth preserving.

That instinct became the foundation of Maison Jaspers.

What started in a nine square meter student room has grown into a carefully curated collection of antiques, vintage design, art, lighting, and decorative objects. Every piece is selected with the same feeling that started years ago: the belief that certain objects deserve to be found, cared for, and placed back into the world with respect.

For me, Maison Jaspers is about more than decoration. It is about atmosphere, rarity, craftsmanship, and the emotional value of objects that have survived time. The right piece can bring warmth, depth, and character into a home in a way that new objects often cannot.
